Nearly Forty Percent of the American Population has been Infected with COVID-19
According to the Associated Press:
The country is still missing about eight infections for everyone counted, according to a new government report Wednesday. Many people don’t get tests, especially if they don’t have symptoms.
Therefore, for every infected America, eight others who have been infected have not been tested.
How many Americans are among the confirmed infected? As of today, 12/15/20, 16,520,408 Americans have tested positive to being infected with COVID-19, according to John Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering’s website.
Therefore, 16,520,408 Americans infected times the eight missing infected equals 132,163,264 Americans who have been infected with COVID-19.
132,163,264 divided by 330,711,038 (the U.S. Population in 2020 according to the U.S. Census Bureau U.S. Population clock ) x 100 (to find the percent) = 39.96% of the U.S. population has been infected with COVID-19.
When another 25% of the U.S. population becomes infected with COVID-19, we will hit 65% of the population infected, which is the point when most experts believe the U.S. will hit herd immunity.
