Was Iran’s Missile Attack Politically Designed to Satisfy Domestic Political Realities while Not Triggering a U.S. Response that Drops Iran’s Economy like a Cold, Wet Rag?January 8, 2020
Iran launches three waves of missile attacks and kills and injures exactly zero Americans.
Is Iran militarily incompetent or did they mean to miss? Or, is this just like their threats to launch a massive cyberattack against the U.S., and they end up hacking my library card.
If the Iranians are incompetent then all the rending of garments and bed-wetting hand-wringers in the U.S. ought to be ashamed, sit down and shut up. And, our response should be swift and resolute.
If the Iranians missed on purpose, then all the rending of garments and bed-wetting hand-wringers in the U.S. ought to be ashamed, sit down and shut up. Multiple reports now state Iran called Iraq up and warned them of the attack on the airbase in advance, with the caveat that the missiles would only target Americans.
Missing on purpose means they feared the U.S. response so much they launched the missile attacks to save face, but not to provoke a U.S. response that drops their economy even further down the drain, threatening the viability of the Iranian regime’s current leadership.
Regardless of the reason for the Iranian missile misses, Iran attacked us and President Trump ought to swiftly carry out his threat against the 52 targets.
Of course, another option is to declare victory and stand down.
P.S. Six hours after I posted this, Bloomberg runs this piece: U.S. Suspects Iran Reprisal Deliberately Missed American Troops and this published on Jan. 9th: Iran Sought to Save Face With Recent Strikes, Not Kill Americans.
