What Permanent Majority?

AOL (America On Line) of all places has an excellent article that clearly lays out the bottom line of American politics, under normal circumstances: citing Sean Trende, Americans like divided — gridlocked — government. The Speaker and the Trillion Dollar President´s repeated were-not-listening-to-you routine on health care has seared into the independent voter the dangers of majority one-party rule. Some of the Dems´ vital signs:
This does not mean that some new independent, really independent not just a Democrat in Independent clothing, movement will not rise and take seats in Congress. It´s just going to take a while for it to happen, and in the meantime, the GOP will be the beneficiaries of the rub-your-face-in-it approach the White House and the Speaker took on ObamaCare. As the Dems are finding out, the damage done to them by their relentless pursuit of a government takeover of health care is so extensive, that it is now threatening whatever the Trillion Dollar President tries to pivot to, like financial reform or a jobs bill. All because of their arrogance and refusal to listen. |
